About our organisation

Passionate and committed to refreshing organisations and campaigns so that they have greater impact with the same resources. Why:

Created in 2007 and needing to grow in 2019 to step up to meet the demand for the methodology in social change environments.

Director’s work is focused on creating thriving, vibrant and effective workplace cultures and aspires to model this within her own organisation.

Based in Melbourne (Naarm).

About the position

Opportunity to bring your best to a great purpose led and vibrant working environment. Starting late in the first quarter of the year the person that’s a great match will start by doing discrete pieces of work, along the lines of the list below, that will grow into regular work and hours by the third quarter of the year. The work will be need to be carried out ‘remotely’ and also at times through meeting up face to face (director is based in the inner north). Rate of pay to be discussed with interested people but approx the average virtual assistant hourly rate.

Skills and abilities

  • Ability and enthusiasm to set up and maintain effective systems for a small but growing organisation (communication systems, diary management etc)

  • Pro-active with an ability to take initiative and problem solve as well as take direction

  • Great organisational skills (action tasks from beginning to end with focus and precision, understand priorities and keep tasks, deliverables and projects under control so that operations can flow smoothly and in a timely way)

  • Great verbal and written communications skills and an ability to tailor communications for different audiences

  • Work effectively 'remotely' but based in Melbourne and able to meet up face to face as well

  • Diary management for the director

  • Social media management

  • Produce and edit newsletters via Mailchimp

  • Organise the production of resources (editing, formatting, printing)

  • Organise logistics (i.e. room bookings, catering and setting up and packing workshops)

  • Invoice management (invoicing platform is in place to be able to use already) and track payments

  • Contact and data management

  • Note taking

Qualities and strengths

  • Ability to communicate honestly with the director (what’s working and possible and what’s not and how things are tracking)

  • Connector (networker) and finisher

  • Good vibes and energetic

  • Self-motivated and responsible

  • Innovative thinker

  • Understand the social movements/social change space

Very ideal but not essential

  • Visual design and communication skills to create visual images to effectively communicate ideas. For example create visual maps for learning resources for processes and facilitation tools

  • Ability to do website management and editing for a website on Squarespace
