Freshen up your facilitation toolkit for the new year so you can make the most of meetings, strategy sessions and planning days, to enable even greater impact.

Highly experiential, impactful, engaging & practical day.

Who is it for?

Facilitators (who are expected to be neutral/not have an opinion or ‘agenda’) looking for fresh tools to enable groups to be even more impactful through:

  • Effectively reading & navigating group dynamics

  • Making meetings, decision-making & people’s time together more worthwhile, to the point & inclusive

Core tools that you'll learn how to apply as a facilitator:

  • Check-in: Creative way to land people in the room so that they can more fully contribute

  • Soft Shoe Shuffle: Dynamic way to have engaging group dialogue that efficiently hears many views & encourages/enables people to not be stuck in ‘a position’

  • 4 Steps: Etiquette for running meetings so that everyone feels heard & supports buy-in & follow through on decisions made

  • Step 5: Debate & Argument: Used for resolving tension & conflict

  • Communication Vices: 6 behaviours to look out for that lead to meetings being ineffective

  • Check-out: Leave meetings with people feeling heard & what needs to be said actually being said, rather than it becoming time consuming ‘gossip’ after the meeting

  • Diagnose early signals of people disengaging & get a really fresh perspective on understanding resistance in groups & group dynamics (via Role Theory)

So what does it cost?

More about Deep Democracy

Born out of South Africa's transformation from apartheid to democracy the Lewis Deep Democracy provides a transformative toolkit & roadmapfor people who lead & facilitate group processes. It is used in the business, community, social movement, public, start-up & education sectors in over 20 countries.

Vision of the founder of Deep Democracy is “a world where people are able to lean into situations where there are differences of opinion and tension and  say what needs to be said rather than asserting power and rank, silencing others or being silenced by them and then, avoiding issues and withdrawing.”

The approach is based on Process Orientated Psychology & provides a mindset shift on how to read group dynamics. It allows people to see the behaviours, norms & patterns in the system that could be creating challenges rather than seeing the source of problems as just being ‘difficult people’.

The methodology is deep in that it supports the exchange of ideas by surfacing the range of values, beliefs, & attitudes that inform & enrich individual & group processes. It’s democratic in that it emphasises that every voice matters & that organisations, groups and individuals thrive when majority & minority voices are valued & included.
